Europe's moon mission blasts off "The system uses solar power to produce a beam of charged xenon atoms, or ions, which are expelled from the back of the probe producing thrust that drives the spacecraft forward.
To power the drive SMART-1 is carrying just 60 liters (about 15.8 U.S. gallons) of fuel for a journey of 100 million kilometers (62 million miles). "

I'm back. I've been too busy to blog, which is a good thing, now that I'm self-employed. I've got a lot of catching up to do. First, I want to mention that this weblog is now 4 years old, which in blog years is about 78, which is why it's so slow and decrepit around here. I think it's funny that 2 out of three of the links on that archive still work. The October 99 archive didn't fair as well when it came to link rot.
Also, in the catching up department, there's now two Chicago weblog maps. I absolutely love Nicolai's design for the one at chicagobloggers.com, it's the best damn combined Chicago transportation map I've seen online.
However I do have to admit I like the pop-up interface on the map built by paul at locussolus.com (even though it doesn't work on MSIE5 for Mac).
Kudos for both teams for taking on this task. Already these maps have introduced me to some fine blogs including fellow Evanstonian weblogs -
